WELCOME TO SPISEKROKEN
The restaurant Spisekroken located at Klosteret on Nordnes, was opened in 1996. The restaurant is “squeezed” in between homes in a number of typical old Bergen houses.
In narrow, crooked and charming premises we have found our place, and have now been here for 23 years.
We have an informal atmosphere and we have room for everyone. Chefs and sommeliers together with good apprentices, creates exceptional guest experiences.
OUR MENU
Our menu changes with the seasons. We focus on good raw materials and very often materials from local farmers if possible. Our specialty is calf, and new dishes of calf always appear on our menu.
Our chefs make generous portions and we like to challenge a bit. Every spring goat kitten shows up on our menu and we make exciting dishes of this good meat.
Our fish is wild-caught white fish. It changes from day to day according to what our fish supplier has to offer.
We always have good cheeses from exciting Norwegian cheese manufacturers on the menu.
RESTAURANTS IN BERGEN AND STRAUME/SOTRA, CATERING AND BANQUETING FACILITIES
In addition to the restaurant at Klosteret, in 2018 we opened our informal restaurant on Straume, Sotra. At that location we serve delicious lunch dishes, cheese and ham, raspeballer (local famous dish) on Thursdays and of course calf and fresh fish catch. At the outdoor restaurant you can enjoy the summer with mussels if you want. At Straume we also have banqueting facilities that can be used for meetings, all types of events, wine tastings and concerts. Everything is possible.
Klosteret Mat & Vinhus at Klosteret in Bergen is our banqueting facility in Nordnes area town hall. The house has history dating back to the early 1700s. There are even some traces of Bergen’s oldest preserved murals there. This has been a mansion, Scandinavi Hotel, old house and area town hall. We use the first floor as our nice banqueting facilities with a small bar and it can accommodate 50 guests. We accept companies of minimum 20 persons for all occasions.
We also do catering. Our catering kitchen is known for serving good food with big portions. We are a little different, we do things our own way and we are loved for it.
